The Experiential Science Education Research Collaborative (XSci), hosted by the University of Colorado Denver’s School of Education and Human Development, is a program designed to encourage positive identifications with science for both educators and students. One major program initiative is “Research in the Raw,” where teachers attend field schools and become members of first-hand research teams in order to increase their understanding and connection to their subject matter. “Passport to Science” is a summer adventure program which allows teachers and students to travel to remote destinations in order to broaden their science experience and develop new science-related skills. XSci utilizes both professional development techniques and hands-on experiential learning to foster scientific literacy and promote positive associations between educators, students, and various fields of science. For more program offerings and information, see XSci’s STEMconnector profile.
